The lesson will provide examples of common mistakes made when answering the IELTS listening test (in particular, grammar and spelling). It is aimed at students with an IELTS 6 or above but the tips provided will be useful for lower levels as well. A mini listening task will be used as the basis for the lesson. By the end of the lesson, you will be more aware of common mistakes that students (including higher level students) may make when doing the listening test.
Patrick Donoghue has more than twenty years English teaching experience in Australia, Japan, Chile and Africa. He has taught students from a range of cultures and backgrounds from more than fifty different countries. Patrick is currently employed at The University of Queensland's Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ), holding the position of Assistant Director of Studies. He plans, designs and delivers courses for business, general and academic streams. As an experienced teacher, mentor and manager he designs and presents development seminars for teachers that cover a variety of topics including teaching business presentations, and using technology to assist learning.
