The aim of this course is to raise learners' awareness of the importance of time management, the difference between formative and summative assessment and the need for students to develop time management strategies that work for them. There is a comprehension quiz, vocabulary exercise and transcript. This course covers CEFR B1+ competencies in terms of listening comprehension: Understanding straightforward information about study or work related topics, identifying both general messages and specific details, provided people speak clearly in a familiar accent (CEFR 2008).
Darren is the eLearning and Multimedia Co-ordinator for English Language Programs (ELP) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Darren has a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics, specialising in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). Darren worked with Rena Frohman, a Language and Learning Advisor from QUT International Student Services and Helen Jones, a QUT Student Welfare Officer (now retired), to write the scripts for the Cultural Bridge videos on the MOOEC, conduct student feedback, and arrange video production and post-production in association with QUT eLearning Services. Darren also designed the quizzes and reflections.
